Tanya Karner is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Illinois Affinity Group Facilitator, and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for Township High School District 113 serving the communities of Deerfield and Highland Park. Dr. Karner brings over 20 years of experience in education, with a strong emphasis on leading district-wide initiatives that promote equity, leverage data-driven practices, and enhance student outcomes. She is an advocate for inclusive practices and professional development opportunities that enhance support and services for all learners. Tanya was named a Loyola University Chicago Distinguished Alumni (2025). Tanya serves as an adjunct instructor at Loyola, supporting graduate students seeking to become Special Education Directors. Dr. Karner holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.S. in Special Education and an M.A. in Educational Leadership. She also holds a Director of Special Education and Principal endorsement as well as an Ed.D in Administration & Supervision.
