Katora Thomas is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow who teaches 8th grade math at Yes Prep North Central in Houston. Katora has served as a member of the district’s Teacher Reopening Working Group, a fellow for the Teacher Advocacy Leadership Institute, previously led the 8th Grade Math Team as a Course Facilitator for the district, and served as the Interim Grade Level Chair. Katora earned a Master Teacher Designation from the Texas Education Agency under the TIA Program. Now in her sixth year of teaching, she also loves connecting with students outside the classroom in her roles as high school volleyball and middle school soccer coach. She was named “Coach of the District” for the Houston Athletics Charter League in 2021. She graduated with a BS in Business Administration and a BS in Kinesiology and Health – Sport Management from The University of Texas at Austin.
