Keishonda Simms is a Teach Plus Illinois Teaching Policy Fellow and a Senior Chicago Change Agent Teacher Leader working on supporting students’ individual needs and making them understandable to teachers and clinicians. Keishonda teaches physical education, dance, and health for preschool through 8th grade and works as a math lead at William H. Ryder Math & Science Specialty School, where she also founded Manifest, a group dedicated to youth empowerment through dance and performance. Keishonda is the school’s athletic director, and a member of the instructional lead team and local school council. She has served as a member of the CPS’ district wellness champion team since 2015. Keishonda graduated from Carleton College with a BA in History and AFAM Studies and received her MA in elementary education with a specialization in middle school from Roosevelt University.
