Lara Kissling is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent. She serves as the Title I Coordinator at Belmont High School in Los Angeles, where she plays a vital role in enhancing educational opportunities for students in underserved communities. Lara is dedicated to empowering teachers in the effective implementation of English Language Development (ELD) strategies, aimed at enhancing student language acquisition within content learning. Before transitioning to her role as an instructional coach, Lara taught ELD classes. She received the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Sal Castro Award (2021), which recognizes educators committed to promoting equity and social justice. Lara earned a BA in English education and a BA in creative writing, along with a Single Subject English teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach. Additionally, she holds a MA in English from California State University, Los Angeles.
