Mitzy Konwerski is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and special education teacher leader and mentor at Grimes Elementary School in Chicago. She teaches students with learning differences, supporting their academic and social growth through individualized instruction and inclusive practices. Mitzy also serves as a mentor to new teachers, offering guidance and collaboration to strengthen instructional strategies and build classroom confidence. She has been a union delegate, representing staff in discussions with administration and advocating for teachers’ rights and working conditions. Mitzy earned a BA as a special education Learning Behavior Specialist I from Northeastern Illinois University and obtained an English as a Second Language endorsement from National Louis University.
