J.L. Rana Koran is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Nevada Policy Fellow and a Video Production teacher at Western High School in Las Vegas. She focuses on teaching young adults in the areas of Video Production, Social Emotional Learning, Communication, and how to find and publish their work to better reach an audience and their own independence. Rana is a five-time Heart of Education award nominee, a National Board Certified Teacher, and holds her National Board Professional Teaching License. She also works with the social emotional health of teachers through a volunteer organization that she started, Coffee & Company NBCT. She earned her BA in English literature, theatre, and writing from Graceland University, her MA in theatre and teaching from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and an additional MA in English as a Second Language from Western Governors University.
