Erica Kouzmanoff-Vymyslicky is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow. Erica is a teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) in Denver Public Schools’ center-based program for students who are DHH at Carson Elementary. As a specialist for students who are DHH, she values creative problem-solving and a strengths-based approach to designing engaging and individualized instruction for every student. She applies this thinking to support the general education setting as an inclusive space by default. Erica’s professional experiences include teaching students who are DHH in k-5 and 6-8 center programs, supporting students who are DHH through an itinerant model, and serving as an instructional coach for both special and general education teachers. She earned her BS in Education, Specialist in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing from Illinois State University and her MA in Education, Special Education Intervention Specialist: Academic Coaching and Leadership Emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado.
