Shannon Larsen is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow. Shannon is an early childhood teacher, international curriculum team specialist, and early childhood program coordinator at Denver Center for International Studies at Fairmont in Denver, Colorado. She focuses on creating culturally relevant and student-centered curriculum, as well as supporting other educators in integrating authentic community-based learning experiences into their instructional practice. She is a longtime coach for Destination Imagination and Odyssey of the Mind, a creative problem solving and performing arts based after school enrichment program. Shannon was named Wilson Arts Integration Teacher of the Year, City of Oklahoma City Rotary Club Teacher of the Month, and Oklahoma City Public Schools Teacher of the Year First Runner-up. She earned her BS in special education and her MEd in literacy specialist from the University of Central Oklahoma as well as a graduate certificate in culturally and linguistically diverse education from the University of Colorado Denver.
