Laura Smith is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow who teaches children ages 3-5 at Capital Area Head Start in Harrisburg. She has been teaching with Head Start for 11 years and is currently serving as Teacher/Center Director. She has also served as a mentor teacher to new and current staff and is a part of the organization’s Teacher Representative Group. Through her work with Head Start, Laura has led parenting workshops in Harrisburg’s local homeless shelters and Dauphin County Prison. Laura received her BA in Anthropology from Muhlenberg College and an MS in Early Childhood Studies from Walden University.
