Meg Lavery is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and a high school health and physical welfare teacher at Libertyville High School in Libertyville, Illinois. Meg is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor and trained in restorative practices in school communities. Megan previously served as a middle school English teacher and district writing coach for 20 years. Meg is a three-time NPR The Moth StorySlam winner and Chicago GrandSlam Champion. Meg was a founding member of the Grayslake D46 Equity Committee, which drafted one of the first comprehensive board-approved policies in the state. She earned her AS from Danville Area Community College, BA in English from University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and MAT from National Louis University. She is also currently working on an MA in restorative practices from the International Institute for Restorative Practices.
