Lavontase Strickland is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow who teaches Physical Education and sponsors the Girls and Boys Basketball team at Frank Guzick Elementary School, in Dallas. Lavontase is a Distinguished teacher in Dallas and was also designated Master Teacher by the Texas Education Agency for the 2020-2021 school year. Lavontase believes in educating the whole child by teaching, supporting, and nurturing all areas of children’s development and learning from social-emotional and cognitive skills to literacy, math, and beyond. He graduated from Culver-Stockton College with a BS in Secondary Education and received his MEd in Educational Administration from Lamar University.
