Lisa is a fifth grade teacher in a hybrid, self-contained Structured English Immersion classroom at the Thomas J. Kenny Elementary School in Dorchester, MA. Lisa’s passion for math education is well known among staff and students, driving her ability to lead the Math Leadership Team for the past four years. Within the past two years, she has worked on a project with TERC in their Routines Project to support students in making general claims about operations and algebraic properties. Two years ago, she contributed to a book called Count Me In to share her strategies for including English Language Learners within the math classroom. Last year, she had the opportunity to share these strategies at NCSM among math educators and leaders around the nation. Lisa earned her Bachelors of Arts and her Masters in Education from University of California, San Diego. Lisa has earned her National Board Teaching certification last November.
