Erick Andrew Longoria is a 2025–2026 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow. He is a 9th grade world geography and pre-Advanced Placement world history teacher, and social studies department chair at Dr. Abraham P. Cano Freshman Academy in Harlingen, Texas. Erick was a nominee for Cano Freshman Academy’s Teacher of the Year (2022–2024), recognized in University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Profile in Excellence for leadership and academic achievement (2019), and honored by the Texas Legislature with House Resolution HR 1814 and Senate Resolution SR 806 for his service as a legislative aide (2019). Erick began his teaching career as a 2021 Teach For America (TFA) corps member in the Rio Grande Valley and has since served as a TFA Alumni Relations Board Member (2023–2025). He also served as a Recruitment Fellow (2024). Erick earned his BA in political science with a minor in history from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley.
