Mary Lopez is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow and an independent study and home/hospital teacher for the Riverbank Unified School District in Riverbank. She scaffolds grade-level instruction for students accessing the curriculum through digital pathways. She has facilitated CLAD training for teachers and taught 9-12 ELD for 25 years. Mary was the recipient of the 2003 Anne Richardson’s Reading is Fundamental Volunteer of the Year Award as an advocate of family literacy and the development of home libraries. Throughout her 40-year career, Mary has supported teachers as an ELD coach and trainer for the SJCOE as well as for the Riverbank Unified School District and served as a union representative. She earned her BA in Spanish and English with an MEd in educational leadership and administrative credential from National University.
