Luna Terauchi is a 2021-2022 Michigan Collaborative Teacher Leader. She is an incoming 1st grade teacher at F.L.I.C.S. School. During the past two years as a kindergarten teacher, Luna led school-wide initiatives by piloting an admin-teacher committee to uncover blindspots in virtual student engagement, facilitated parent meetings to clarify Michigan student retention policies, designed the school’s assessment tool for daily intervention learning groups, and launched a study group for all staff to build knowledge together around shared responsibilities as educators for bilingual learners. Luna was nominated to be honored for Teacher Appreciation Month by the COVID313 Coalition for Families and Students. She is a TFA-Detroit 2019 alumna and current Encore Fellow. Luna received her BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan and is currently pursuing her M.Ed in Educational Leadership and Policy from her alma mater with an expected graduation of Fall 2021.
