Heather Lyftogt is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Texas Advisor Fellow. She is a school counselor, testing coordinator, and K-3 English as a second language teacher at Chaparral Star Academy in Austin, Texas. She previously taught 6-7 grade social studies for two years in the Austin suburbs and was a middle school counselor for STARS Nashville, which places mental health counselors in local school districts. Heather works part-time for College Funding Specialists, assisting students with college applications and essays. She earned a BA in mass communications and art history from the University of California, Los Angeles and MEd in school counseling from Vanderbilt University.
