Tanya Mailangi is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow and 6th grade reading and language arts teacher leader at Bowditch Middle School in Foster City, California. She serves as Nesian Club lead at James Logan High School and Polynesian Dance Club lead at KIPP King Collegiate High School. Tanya began her teaching career in Tonga and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2014, working as a student mentor, club leader, author, and reading and language arts teacher for grades 5-12. She earned an MT in secondary education and MTS from University of Virginia, and EdD in curriculum and instruction from the University of Virginia.
