Malissa Flowers is a 2020-21 Teach Plus Mississippi Policy Fellow. She currently teaches 3- and 4-year-old children with special needs at Beechwood Elementary School in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She taught Mathematics at Presbyterian Christian Middle/High School (2005-06); served as an inclusion teacher/MET Chair at Sumrall Middle/High School (2006-2015); and taught Geometry and Algebra 3 at Brandon High School (2015-2017). Malissa was named Beechwood’s Teacher of the Year (2019-20); Vicksburg Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year (2019-20); appointed to the MS Teacher Council (2019- present); and serves as the Secretary-elect for the MS Early Childhood Association (2020-2022). She earned her BS in Mathematics and an MEd in Education from William Carey University, Hattiesburg, MS.
