Emily Marhan is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Massachusetts Policy Fellow and is a 7th grade mathematics teacher at Keith Middle school in New Bedford. She works with the school instructional leadership team to provide tailored professional development to her fellow educators. She also coaches the girls’ basketball and soccer teams. She began her teaching career as a 2014 Teach for America corps member as a special educator in the mathematics classroom before moving into a 6th grade lead teacher position. Emily began her teaching career in Massachusetts as a 2014 Teach for America corps member, quickly fell in love with Keith Middle School, and is still teaching there today. As a seventh year teacher, her union leadership is beginning to expand. In 2024, she attended both the MTA and NEA conference as a delegate representing NBEA and MTA, respectively, and was elected as the sixth alternate to the MTA’s Resolutions Committee. She earned a dual BA degree in economics and history from the University of Connecticut in 2018, and a MEd in Curriculum and Teaching from Boston University in 2020.
