Maria M. Rocha is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow. Maria is a 1st grade bilingual teacher at Mark Twain Dual Language Academy. She previously taught Spanish language to 1st and 3rd graders at KIPP Esperanza Dual Language Academy. As one of 800,000 DACA recipients nationwide and one of 2,000 Texas DACA educators, she is a proud and strong advocate of the undocumented community and dual-language/bilingual education programs. Maria received a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and Human Development EC-6 from the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Texas at San Antonio and is currently pursuing her MEd in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies through the Urban School Leaders Collaborative at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
