Maria Martinez is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Texas Harmony Teacher Advisory Cabinet Member and is a 9th grade Biology and Biomedical teacher at Harmony School of Excellence in Laredo. She serves as the Science Department chair, Biology Curriculum Writer, System Course Leader for Health Science, a Microcredentials Ambassador, and more. Maria was awarded the Laredo Chamber of Commerce Bell Award (2021-2022); PLTW PBS Master Teacher (2022); and was a Teach Plus Ready to Lead Fellow (2020-2021). Maria is a Society for Science advocate that works towards increasing the number of students from traditionally underrepresented races/ethnicities and low-income households to enter STEM research competitions. She earned her BA in Biology and MA in Teaching from Texas A&M International University and has completed all the coursework toward her EdD in Curriculum and Instruction from Northcentral University.
