Maryia Krivoruchko is a 2nd grade teacher at Aspire Juanita Tate Academy in South Central Los Angeles, serving 27 students in her classroom and leading a 2nd/3rd grade team of teachers. At Aspire Tate, Maryia pilots Common Core implementation and blended learning, and facilitates demonstration lessons during professional development sessions. Maryia is a member of the Aspire Teacher Effectiveness Driver Panel, serving as a voice for teachers in charter-wide decisions on teacher effectiveness and compensation. Maryia previously taught 3rd grade at Aspire, as well as 1st grade and K-3 Special Education (full-inclusion) at Rocketship Education, a charter organization in the Bay Area. As a Teach For America alumna, Maryia works to develop culturally-relevant curriculum, and to build student independence at the K-2 level. She graduated from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a BA in linguistics and psychology, and is credentialed to teach both general and special education K-12.
