Dr. Kimberly Matchniff is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow, and U.S. history and special education teacher at North Mesquite High School in Mesquite, Texas. She began her teaching career in Kailua, Hawaii, moving to Texas in 2010. Kimberly was named the Region 10 Association of Texas Professional Educators’ (ATPE) Secondary Educator of the Year (2025). She is the immediate past president of the Mesquite Education Association and Mesquite ATPE, and was elected treasurer of Region 10 ATPE. Kimberly earned her BA in history and BS in criminal justice from Rutgers University, MEd in special education from Chaminade University of Honolulu, and PhD in special education from the University of North Texas.
