Matthew D. Kennedy is a social studies teacher and technology integration support coach at Eastern Senior High School (SHS) in Washington, D.C. In this hybrid role, Matthew splits his time between the classroom and supporting teacher efforts to incorporate blended learning into their instruction. As a classroom teacher, Matthew teaches world history, economics, and International Baccalaureate history, and has previously taught special education. He loves working at Eastern SHS, the Pride of Capitol Hill, where there is a dedicated mission to educating global leaders. Matthew has been recognized as a highly effective teacher, which he credits to the work he has done to blend his classroom by incorporating online instruction with small group reading and writing exercises. Matthew was an Education Innovation Fellow with the CityBridge Foundation and the NewSchools Venture Fund in the inaugural 2013 cohort and is currently a Teacher Leadership Innovation fellow with DC Public Schools and Leading Educators. He graduated with honors from the University of Chicago with a BA in Law, Letters, and Society, and holds an MA from George Mason University in special education.
