Elizabeth Maxcey is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Mississippi Policy Fellow and special education teacher at Biloxi High School in Biloxi, Mississippi. She sponsors her school’s gaming club, has served as a 10th-grade class sponsor, and has been a Tri-M music honor society sponsor. Elizabeth has contributed to district-level initiatives aimed at improving special education services and transitional planning, and has served on her district’s Individualized Education Program audit committee. She has taught elementary music, middle school science and history, middle school special education, and high school special education. Elizabeth was honored as the Teacher of the Term (October 2023) and has served on a statewide task force focused on English learners with disabilities. She earned her bachelor’s in music education and master’s in secondary education from William Carey University, as well as EdS in special education leadership from the University of the Cumberlands.
