Riley McGowan is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow and middle school orchestra director at Peirce Middle School in West Chester, Pennsylvania. She serves as legislative chair for her local union and as a member of the statewide Pennsylvania State Education Association’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council. Riley previously was a high school orchestra director in Philadelphia. She earned a BM in music education and music performance and MS in transformative education and social change from West Chester University.
