LaShanda McKinney-Carson is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Indiana Policy Fellow and a 6th-8th grade lead teacher for the Phoenix Academy Program and social studies team lead at New Augusta Public Academy North Middle School in Indianapolis. She serves as an equity facilitator and CARE Team middle school social studies representative for New Augusta Public Academy North. She was a member of the Indiana Level Up Leadership 2023-2024 cohort and previously served as director of the GE College Bound Program at Aiken Senior High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. LaShanda is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a mentor for the Young Women of Purpose Program. She earned a BA in history from Wittenberg University, an MEd in secondary education from Xavier University, Cincinnati, and an MEd in educational leadership from the University of Cincinnati.
