Melissa Scherle is a 2nd grade teacher at Washington Irving Elementary School where she is a T3 (Turnaround Teacher Teams) Team Leader. In this role, Melissa collaborates with teachers to develop curriculum, instruction and assessments, and to analyze data. Melissa is in her eleventh year of teaching and was previously a special education teacher in Indianapolis and a diagnostician for the Exceptional Children’s Co-op in Jasper, Indiana. She was named Teacher of the Year at Washington Irving in 2012 as well as a Top Ten teacher in IPS that same year. Outside of the classroom, Melissa is proud to serve on The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis Education Council and volunteer with Back on My Feet Indianapolis. She graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Elementary and Special Education.
