Dr. Patricia Mendez is a kindergarten teacher leader at Menlo Avenue Dual Language Elementary School in Los Angeles, California. She is the first dual language teacher at her school teaching in a 50/50 dual language immersion model with the target language of Spanish, and the Early Language and Literacy Plan designee with a focus on early literacy. Dr. Mendez has supported new teachers, and served on committees with parent and community leaders. She received her Educational Doctorate in Reading and Literacy (2020). Dr. Mendez received her National Board Recertification in 2015 and has received 2 micro-credentials in STEAM (2020) and Early Literacy (2021). Dr. Mendez received National Board Certifications (2005, 2015), and is a member of The National Society of Leadership and Success through Capella University (2020). She earned her BA in Chicano Studies and MA in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University and her EdD from Capella University.
