Robert Mitchell is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Equity Leadership Institute member and is a 9th grade Spanish teacher at Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh. He is a union leader at his school and previously served as a middle school girls’ basketball, girls’ softball and girls soccer coach. In 2005, Robert was named a Fulbright Teacher and served as a Fulbright Teacher teaching English for one year in Piura, Peru. Robert serves as co-chair of the African-American Teacher Mentorship Program and Vice President of Middle Schools at the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers. He earned a BA in Spanish from Swarthmore College, Swarthmore PA and an MA in Teaching Foreign Language Education as an African-American Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh.
