Karen Moore is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Illinois Affinity Group Facilitator and a Special Education Resource Teacher at Maya Angelou Elementary School in Harvey. She focuses on teaching non-traditional learners who are on the road to become greater scholars. As a veteran teacher, she has taught middle school social studies, self contained, and resource room. Karen was named Harvey Public Schools District 152 Rookie of the Year her first year teaching. Karen has been a member of the Illinois Education Association for 25 years, where she has held various positions in the association including Building Representative, Vice Chair of the NEA Black Caucus, NEA Director, and more. She earned her BA in Elementary from Illinois State University and her MA in Multicategorical Special Education from Governors State University.
