Maggie Moore is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Illinois Early Childhood Educator Policy Fellow. She is a blended preschool co-teacher, Culture and Climate team lead, and Second Step team lead at Beard Elementary School in Chicago. She focuses on schoolwide social emotional initiatives. Maggie has also taught in intensive support and general education preschools during her 9 years of teaching. Maggie’s article “Preschool as a Safe and Affirming Place: A Trauma-Informed Perspective” was published in the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s spring 2024 issue of Teaching Young Children. Maggie is an active member of the Chicago Teachers Unions’ Early Childhood Committee and advocates for improved learning and teaching conditions for early learners and educators in Chicago and beyond. She earned her BS in early childhood education with an English as a Second Language endorsement from Loyola University in Chicago and a MEd in trauma-informed education from Columbia College in South Carolina.
