Sarah Murtaugh is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow and 3rd grade teacher at Gunnison Elementary School in Gunnison, Colorado, where she uses music and movement to help students retain information across core subjects. She serves on her school’s Literacy Leadership Team and Multi-Tiered System of Supports team. Sarah previously taught 1st and 2nd grade in rural schools across Colorado’s western slope. She is a Colorado Teacher of the Year semifinalist (2026-2027). Sarah earned a BA in communication with a minor in political science from San Diego State University and an MA in education from Western Colorado University.
