Brittany Nelson is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and a 4th grade teacher at Yankee Ridge Elementary School in Urbana. In addition to having served as a mentor teacher in her district, Brittany has also served as the Illinois Education Association Region 8 Chairperson, a member of the IEA Board of Directors and IEA Executive Committee, co-chair of the IEA Leadership Training Institute Committee, and as president of her local union. Brittany earned her BA in Elementary Education with middle level endorsements in mathematics, language arts, and social studies from Illinois State University and a MEd in Reading from Olivet Nazarene University.
