Patrick Newton

Patrick Newton is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Indiana Policy Fellow. He is an 11th and 12th grade history teacher and Social Studies Department Chair at KIPP Indy Legacy High School in Indianapolis. He sponsors a National Honor Society chapter. Previously, Patrick was the Nashville, Tennessee, Regional Director of  the Urban Leaders Fellowship, a nationwide public policy opportunity for mid-career professionals. He was inducted into RISE Indy’s Circle City Leaders program (2025), was a James Madison Fellow for Indiana (2024), and received Teach for America’s Green Fellowship (2023). Patrick is an active member of Teach Indy’s Education Advisory Committee and began his teaching career in Mississippi as a 2012 Teach for America corps member. He earned BAs in social studies education and history from Purdue University at West Lafayette, MPP in education policy from Vanderbilt University, and is working on his MA in teaching American history and government at Ashland University.
