Keisha S. Nickolson is a 2022-2023 Indianapolis Equity Change Agent, 5th grade teacher leader, Equity Facilitator, and team lead at Guion Creek Elementary in Indianapolis, Indiana. She focuses on developing teachers in presenting equitable and culturally responsive teaching, pedagogy, and practical applications to the way we teach and learn with students and staff. Keisha was named a Teacher Leader in Sheltered ENL instruction (2015); ISTA (Indiana State Teachers Association) Honors in Excellence Award (2016); and Equity Facilitator (2021-present). Keisha began her teaching career in Indianapolis after completing the Transition to Teaching program through Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in December 2011 and has taught 5th grade for eleven years. She earned her BA in Chemistry and African American Studies from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Master’s in Public Affairs with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from Indiana University Bloomington.
