Nicole Thorpe

Nicole Thorpe is a special education resource teacher at Ingenuity Prep in Washington, D.C.  In this position, she leads the literacy instruction of a small group of kindergarten and 1st grade students and collaborates with school leaders and teachers to coordinate, facilitate, and service the special education needs of students at Ingenuity.  Previously, Nicole has taught both general and special education at the elementary level in Fairfax and Arlington Counties. She has worked as a cultural competence trainer, the work she is continuing to advance at Ingenuity Prep.  Nicole established programs and coached Girls on the Run at several schools in Northern Virginia.  She currently serves as a member of the Associate Board of Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia.  Nicole earned a BA in English from the University of South Carolina, a JD from the University of Texas, and an MEd in learning disabilities from Marymount University.
