Nikysha D. Gilliam is a 2020-2021 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow who teaches at Susan Miller Dorsey Senior High School in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD. Nikysha teaches English Language Development and ninth and tenth grade English for English learners. Previously, she has taught both elementary and middle school. Gilliam has traveled to Senegal, West Africa as a Fulbright Fellow in the Teachers for Global Classrooms program, and was named LAUSD Teacher of the Year (2019) and Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year (2019) as well. She received a BA in English from the University of Michigan, an MA in Educational Administration from California State University at Northridge, and is currently a doctoral candidate at Loyola Marymount University with an emphasis in Educational Leadership for Social Justice.
