Maria Elena Orozco is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus New Mexico Policy Fellow and has twenty years of teaching experience in Albuquerque Public Schools, having taught Spanish, English as a second language, and Spanish for heritage speakers. She holds her MA in English as a second language, Spanish, Classical and Modern Languages and Language Arts from the University of New Mexico. In 2004, she achieved National Board Certification in English as a New Language. She is currently working on a MA in Lengua y Cultura, La Universidad de Granada, España. She is currently teaching Spanish for Heritage Speakers and English Language Development at Valley High school.
