Delyla Ovalle-Bowyer is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow. Delyla teaches special education in a self-contained classroom at Leonetti Elementary School in Missouri City, Texas. Delyla has previously served as a TREK teacher in Houston ISD as well as a structured integrated learning classroom teacher in Spring ISD. She is a current fellow with the Texas Tech cohort of Texas Education Policy Fellowship, Latinos for Education Alumni, and 2023 POC Emerging Policy and Advocacy Leaders. She serves on the Autism Speaks Committee in Houston School Engagement. Delyla continues her leadership opportunities with Leadership for Educational Equity in their Early Career Coaching Course. She graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown with a BA in interdisciplinary studies EC-6 and received her MA in special education in the low incidence disabilities in autism from Sam Houston State University.
