Amanda Paulus is a 2022-2023 Michigan Collaborative Teacher Leader who teaches AP Literature and Composition, British Literature, and Native American Literature at Sault Area High School in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. As lead of the high school’s ELA Professional Learning Community and representative on the District School Improvement Team, she focuses on ensuring access and equity in the classroom, and balancing rigorous content with students’ social emotional needs. Amanda also teaches two concurrent-enrollment courses, allowing high school students to earn credit for First-Year Composition and Survey of Native Literature through Lake Superior State University. Amanda was named Sault High’s Outstanding Teacher of Native American Students (2019). She earned her BA in Secondary English Education and an MA in English with a Pedagogy concentration from Northern Michigan University.
