Charlette Pettis is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Mississippi Policy Fellow. She is a 6th-grade Regroup (behavior intervention) teacher at the Oxford Learning Center in Oxford, Mississippi. Charlette is a certified special educator. She focuses on students who need behavior interventions and works with them to help them learn social-emotional skills and coping strategies to help them be successful in the general education setting. She has taught students with special needs from grades 2 through high school grades in different schools. She also taught at Millcreek of Batesville, a day treatment facility for children with behavioral and mental health needs. Charlette received the Zeta Phi Beta, Mu Chi Chapter of Oxford, MS Teacher Award, and the Live Again Diamond in the Rough Community Award. Charlette earned her BA in psychology from the University of Mississippi and her special education certification from the Teach MS Institute at the University of Mississippi.
