Sharra Powell is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Illinois Affinity Group Facilitator and high school English teacher at Libertyville High School in Libertyville, Illinois. She has taught all high school grades and levels as an English teacher and reading specialist. Sharra also provides literacy and equity training for staff at her school. She has been a Literacy Coach, equity facilitator, and club advisor for the Black Student Union. Sharra earned her BA in education with an emphasis on English from the University of Missouri – Columbia and MA in reading and Reading Specialist certification from Benedictine University.
