Janelle Quiroz is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and 3rd grade bilingual teacher at Smith Elementary School in West Aurora School District 129 in Aurora, Illinois. She serves as a union representative for her building and as a new teacher mentor. Janelle’s classroom teaching experience ranges from grades 1-4 in English as a Second Language (ESL) and bilingual classrooms. She has also taught gifted students and hosted student teachers. Janelle holds endorsements in gifted education, ESL, and bilingual education. Janelle earned a BA in elementary education from Loras College and MA in curriculum and instruction from Aurora University.
