Al Rabanera is a Teach Plus Leading Edge Fellow and mathematics teacher at La Vista High School in Fullerton, California. In 2017, he received the Horace Mann Award for Teaching Excellence, one of only five educators nationwide to do so, and was selected as a Global Learning Fellow. He was later honored as the Distinguished Alumni of the Year for the College of Education at California State University, Fullerton. In 2025, the Orange County STEM Initiative and the Orange County Department of Education recognized him as an Outstanding K–12 STEM Educator. Al, an alumnus of the Teach Plus California Policy Fellowship and the Teach Plus National Policy Advisory Board, earned an EdD from the University of Southern California. He has shared his work nationally, including as a panelist at the Aspen Ideas Festival. His writing has appeared in EdSource, The 74, and the Fullerton Observer.
