Jesus Renteria

Jesus Vedoya Renteria is a 2026-2027 Emergent Bilingual Change Agent Alumni Mobilizer. He is an English teacher at Hanford West High School in Hanford, California. He works with students to foster multilingual development and equity in education. He has taught multilingual English language development (ELD) for 14 years, as well as courses in creative writing, journalism, and language acquisition. He has worked for the Hanford Joint Union High School District for 19 years and has been a San Joaquin Valley Writing Project Teacher Leader since 2018. In addition, he completed the California Teachers Association’s (CTA) Ethnic Member Early Identification and Development program (EMEID) in 2024. Currently, he is in his second year of CTA’s Equity & Justice Cadre Training Program, on his second year as the LGBTQ+ Coordinator for the TKSCC Equity Committee, part of CTA’s SOGIIAC, and one of CDE’s 2026 ELA/ELD Content Review Expert. He hopes to complete National Board Certification in the coming years. Jesus has a BA in English with a double major in Chicano/Latino studies, a single-subject teaching credential from California State University, Fresno, an MA in English from National University, and a Master’s in Education from Humphreys University.
