Alvin Rey Caña is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus New Mexico Policy Fellow and high school English language arts teacher and teacher mentor at Gallup Central High School in Gallup, New Mexico. He serves as the Building Test Coordinator and English Language Learner Coordinator. Alvin previously served as an English teacher, English department head, and curriculum leader. He holds New Mexico Level 3-A Instructional Leader licensure, with endorsements in language arts, reading, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Alvin received the Affirming Committed Excellent Teacher Award (2018), was a Residential Leadership Fellow at George Washington Mount Vernon’s Teacher Institute, and is a member of The National Society of Leadership and Success. He is senior class sponsor, student council adviser, After Hours Academy (AHA) Coordinator, and Blended Learning Influencer. Alvin earned a Bachelor of Secondary Education in English from Philippine Normal University-Manila and MS in curriculum and instruction from Western Governors University.
