Rickey Townsend is a 2020-2021 Teach Plus Ready to Lead Fellow and a 2018-2019 DFW Policy Fellow. He is a 7th grade Pre-AP mathematics teacher at Benjamin Franklin International Exploratory Academy, an International Baccalaureate World School in Dallas, Texas. He is head of the Math Department at Benjamin Franklin, as well as head of track & field. Rickey is a proud alum of DISD, Dallas Teacher Residency, and the Teach Plus DFW Policy Fellowship, where his passion for affinity groups (specifically Black Male Educators) began. In 2019, Rickey was awarded Teacher of the Year. He has been in education for more than four years. Rickey graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies and received his MEd in the Arts of Teaching from Texas A&M University Commerce.
