Azar Robles is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent. She is English Language Development/Academic Language Development and art teacher for grades 6–8 and Newcomer Committee leader at Knox Middle School in San Diego, California. Azar established her school’s art program and was featured in Newsela’s Educator Spotlight. She received the San Diego State University Provost’s Award for research on high school English learners and earned a merit recognition from Cambridge University. She holds an American Montessori Society Elementary credential. Azar has taught both in Mexico and in the United States. She earned a BA in education from Montemorelos University, and MA in dual language and English learning, with an emphasis in critical literacy and social justice, from San Diego State University. She is pursuing a PhD in education at Universidad de Tijuana CUT.
