Ryan Casey is a Teach Plus Greater Boston Teaching Policy Fellow. He is a 5th grade mathematics teacher at the Orchard Gardens Pilot School in Boston Public Schools, where he leads the upper-elementary team of math teachers. Ryan previously taught middle school at Orchard Gardens and high school at an alternative school in Boston. Prior to teaching in Boston, he spent three years in Japan teaching English in a Japanese middle school. Ryan has received training in teaching math and leading math teachers through a Math for America Master Teacher Fellowship and at the Park City Mathematics Institute. Ryan has been a speaker at several conferences and institutes for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. He believes that all students should have access to high quality teachers who can deliver expert math classes that lead students to deep understandings of elegant ideas. Ryan earned his BA from Millikin University and an MEd from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
